Modern fuel formulations can have a devastating impact on the health of tank systems and
product quality. Low sulphur diesel and ULP are also heavily impacted by the presence of
water. Petromonitor provides the most comprehensive solution for removing contamination
and free water as well as a patented process for restoring fuel quality and remediating phase separation.
Unlike other fuel tank cleaning services, our market-leading technology avoids agitation,
sweeps the entire tank floor to remove free phase water from the tank, and only liquid waste
(not fuel) is removed from site. To ensure your bulk fuel and your assets are protected, we
use a patented 3 Step process to clean the tank vessel and the fuel in the tank:
1. Once the site is secured for safety, we sample the fuel to determine the degree of
cleaning and filtration required. We then traverse the entire tank floor from multiple
access points to remove water, rust particulate, bacterial sludge and other foreign
matter and deposit this after a basket strainer into a holding tank to settle.
2. We then move on to pump the remaining fuel through our 2-stage filtration system.
Firstly the fuel passes through a coalescer to remove particles and suspended water,
then through a cartridge filter and a magnetic conditioner. The polished fuel is then
reintroduced to your tank, ready to be sold or used in your private fleet.
3. After the sediment in the holding tank has settled, recoverable fuel is pumped
through the 2-stage filtration process and also reintroduced to your tank.
