43 people died on the sport and 2 died being evacuated to hospital while several were injured when a King Lion bus veered of the road last night. Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said the fatal accident occurred in Nyamakate 30 kilometres from Makuti in Hurungwe. The bus was travelling to Lusaka Zambia from Harare. The driver failed to negotiate a curve resulting in the bus veering of the road and hitting a tree before landing on its side. It is suspected the driver was speeding.

Assistant Commissioner Charamba said they will lobby government to ban buses from traveling at night as most accidents occurred at night. This accidents comes barely a month after another bus killed 20 people in Mvuma.

Meanwhile Local Governmant Minister Saviour Kasukuwere said President Mugabe is personally intervening in a move set to declare the accident a national disaster. At the time of writing government officials were preparing papers to have government take action in assisting the bereaved families.
